MONDAY MUSINGS SEASON 2 - EPISODE 363
27th April 2026
Power of habits and consistency
The intellect is said to be in the nature of goodness, O Parth, when it understands what proper action and improper action is, what is duty and non-duty, what is to be feared and what is not to be feared, what is binding and what is liberating (Bhagavad Gita 18.30)
#50thLaw
The 50th Law is a New York Times bestselling book on strategy and fearlessness written collaboratively by #rapper50Cent (Curtis Jackson) and author #RobertGreene.
The less you fear, the more power you will have and the more fully you will live. This is the central principle of fearlessness, advocating for intense realism, self-reliance, and adapting to change to gain power. It encourages turning fear into fuel, embracing uncertainty, and acting with confidence to control your destiny. Fearlessness, the 50th law, is the foundation that unlocks all other powers, as Robert Greene explained in his previous book, The 48 Laws of Power.
Sorry for the little delay in publishing this week’s episode. It was a crazy week for me due to immense work pressure on account of @SelectAndDelete book release and my 60th birthday functions. I can never afford to break the record of 363 consistent weeks, and hence, somehow managed to publish this episode before the end of Monday this week. Consistency is a great discipline and that is the topic of today’s discussion. Let us enjoy the power of consistency as explained in #BhagavadGita 18.33. After discussing three modes of intellect, Lord Krishna turns his attention to three modes of determination.
Define Determination
धृत्या यया धारयते मन:प्राणेन्द्रियक्रिया: | योगेनाव्यभिचारिण्या धृति: सा पार्थ सात्त्विकी || Bhagavad Gita 18.33||
Three Sanskrit words in this sloka are meaningful and powerful. They are dharayate , avyabhicarinya, and dhruthi..
Dharayate means to flow like a stream, normally used to represent ‘uniformity and consistency’, avyabhicarinya means steadfastness and dhruthi determination.
Consistency and steadfastness are the two essential attributes of Determination. Now the meaning of the above sloka
O son of Pṛthā, that determination which is unbreakable, which is sustained with steadfastness by yoga practice, and which thus controls the activities of the mind, life and senses is determination in the mode of goodness.
That resolve which is consistent and steadfast is determination in the mode of goodness. Such determination is developed using yoga practice by focusing the mind and controlling the life and senses.
Dhṛiti (determination) is the inner strength of our mind and intellect to persevere on our path despite difficulties and obstacles. Dhṛiti is what keeps our vision focused towards the goal, and mobilizes the latent powers of the body, mind, and intellect to overcome apparently insurmountable impasses on the journey.
Through the practice of Yog, the mind becomes disciplined and develops the capacity to rule over the senses and the body. The steadfast willpower that develops when one learns to subdue the senses, discipline the life-airs, and control the mind is sāttvic dhṛiti (determination in the mode of goodness).
Power of habits and consistency
Consistency has unimaginable power. Doing small things consistently is often more effective than attempting big things occasionally, as it builds lasting habits, sustainable momentum, and compounds into significant results. This approach reduces burnout, builds resilience, and makes success easier to maintain through small daily actions rather than infrequent massive efforts.
Small good habits done consistently can lead to really big achievements. And those habits, once they become habits, are generally strong and hard to break.
· Small things done consistently turn into big things.
· the power of habit is stronger than you can ever imagine.

#PositiveNewsPage
The much-anticipated book #SelectAndDelete was successfully launched on 22nd April 2026. The initial response is overwhelming. Most of the initial feedback, including that of the chief guest, Mr John Thomas, is that the story is a page-turner, prompting a strong urge to read it in one go.
The style is a mix of Agatha Christie’s (specifically Hercule Poirot) whodunit stories of logical analysis, Arthur Hailey’s plot-driven storylines set against the backdrops of various industries and Tamil writer Sujatha’s fast-moving crime stories. Select & Delete is set on the backdrop of the fast-changing IT industry.
The book is now available in all amazon footprints (except India). Indian citizens can purchase from www.authorjaganathan.com.
